Great Eagle Holdings

Great Eagle Holdings is a massive real estate company that is active across different branches of the industry all around the world. They have quality residential, office, retail, and hotel properties, and are also active in property management, maintenance services, and building material trading. They are based out of Hong Kong, and their principal holdings are majority shares in Champion Real Estate Investment Trust, and Langham Hospitality Investments which acts as the company’s hotel management wing.

Their most expansive enterprise is definitely their hotel empire. They have 21 hotel properties which amount to 8,000 rooms. Their hotels span the earth, and are present in the the most prominent gateway cities in the world.

Residential, Office, Retail, and Hotel Developer

They have hotels in Hong Kong, London, New York City, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hainan, Haikou, Ningbo, Xiamen, Washington D.C., and of course the historic Chelsea Hotel in Toronto. The Chelsea Hotel was purchased in 1996 and was managed by Delta for many years. In 2013, it was revealed that Delta would no longer manage the hotel and its official name changed to the Eaton Chelsea. Part of the reason for this change is the redevelopment of the hotel. It will soon be the location of the Chelsea Green Condos.

An international presence since 1963

This is a massive project that is comprised of four massive towers, two of which will soar to 88 storeys and 285 meters into the air. It will be a mixed use building and will define the skyline of Toronto’s downtown core. It will significantly bolster the population of the already dense neighbourhood by adding an additional 2,135 residential units, and it will also add 7,529 square meters of commercial space to the area. This is a massive undertaking in one of the the most integral parts of the city.

This developer is up to the challenge as they have the experience of developing projects throughout the entire world. They have undertaken major projects in Pak Shek Kok and Tai Po in Hong Kong, San Francisco, Seattle, and Tokyo.They have done more than just show up, as they have been recognized for their outstanding work in architecture.

Their Langham Place project won the Supreme Structural Award at the 2005 IStructE China Awards and was named the ICSE Best New Mixed Use Retail Project in 2007. Their Three Garden Road project (formerly Citibank Plaza) won the Highest Award from the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in 1994. There’s no doubt that they’re going to implement their international experience in creating some of the most stunning towers in the city.

Great Eagle is an international presence and they have played a role on the world stage since their founding in 1963. They have shown that they’re capable of taking on massive and stunning projects, and they plan on taking this skill to Toronto’s central downtown core with their Chelsea Green Condos development. These massive towers will define the region, and will provide housing for well over 2,000 people. We’ll have to wait to see if they plan on pursuing additional Toronto based projects in the future.

Three Garden Road

This project was built after the landmark acquisition of property in Hong Kong’s financial Core Business District. The building was fully leased within a year of its completion and hosts a variety of international financial institutions It has a total of 1.6 million square feet and is considered Hong Kong’s first intelligently designed office building as its specifications are deemed superior to it predecessors while also implementing environmentally friendly features throughout. It is located on 3 Garden Road in Hong Kong and it was completed in 1992.

Langham Place

This is the first urban renewal project in Hong Kong. The site previously comprised of 120,000 square feet, but after redevelopment it now holds 1.8 million square feet. It is a mixed use development that holds office space, a shopping mall, and an international luxury hotel. The shopping mall revolutionized the way people shop in Hong Kong, as it was the first example of “vertical shopping malls” in the city. As such, it was the first use of Xpresscalators which are incredibly long escalators that allow shoppers to conveniently reach the top floor. The project was completed in 2004 and it is located on 8 Argyle Street.
