Four additional skating rinks are at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex, Ada Johnson Park, Confederation Park, Machell Park and Town Park.

Adults 55 years and older will find a plethora of opportunities to stay active and social by visiting Aurora’s Seniors’ Centre. This centre houses a billiards room, computer and reading room, outdoor bocce court, woodshop, and terrace overlooking the Aurora Arboretum.

Community building is a continued initiative here that has shown no signs of slowing down. The people-focused district developing here envisions a mixed-use, pedestrian friendly destination that includes speciality shops, dining, creative businesses and arts centred around Yonge and Wellington Streets. Currently, the Aurora Cultural Centre is the first step in creating this forthcoming district which houses the museum, art galleries, performance space and more.

Accessibility / Getting Around

Getting around Aurora or travelling to and from is effortless with easy highway access and reliable transit. Highway 404 connects commuters to the rest of the GTA and GO Transit has trains running to downtown Toronto. All of this contributes to Aurora’s impressive average household income of $106,708.

The town is also serviced by York Region Transit (YRT), including several local routes as well as its Viva Blue Bus Rapid Transit service. The Aurora GO Transit is a stop on the Barrie GO Transit Line. Trains depart approximately every 15-30 minutes southbound towards Toronto weekday morning peak times, northbound towards Barrie approximately every 30 minutes during the afternoon peak times.

Getting around Aurora or travelling to and from is effortless

Under the GO Transit Regional Express Rail plan, by 2024, service will be increased to run every 15 minutes during peak, midday, evenings, and weekends between Aurora and Toronto using electric trains rather than the current diesel trains along the full route between Barrie and Toronto.
