Dovercourt Park Neighbourhood
This neighbourhood is located in downtown Toronto, and its central location makes it a great place to live or invest. It is close to several main Toronto roadways, and also some integral public transit. Its southern border is Bloor Street West, and it serves as the main commercial district equipped with main shops, services, and restaurants. The eponymous park is situated at the centre of the neighbourhood, and it is also the location of the Dovercourt Boys and Girls Club, a community staple.
This area is in an incredibly central location, and it’s easy to access from almost anywhere in the city. One of the main highlights of this location is that its southern border is Bloor Street West, which is the pathway of the TTC’s Line 1 Subway. As a result, subway stations appear at either of Dovercourt Park’s southern corners - Dufferin Station to the west and Ossington to the east. Dufferin, Dovercourt, Ossington, and Dupont are also have good transit service with bus and streetcar lines.
Bloor Street isn’t just a transitway, it’s also the primary shopping district for the neighbourhood. The stretch has many different bars, restaurants, shops, and services. It is also the site of the area’s Toronto Public Library branch. Dufferin Mall is also close by, and this serves as the area’s central shopping destination. It has 45 different vendors, including staple department stores like Wal-Mart, Winners, and Toys-R-Us for the kids. There’s also the Galleria Mall to the north, and it is also outfitted with a great selection of shops.
If you are wondering about the local cuisine, one hot spot is Village Pizza. This is where you can get gourmet - but affordable - pizzas while also sampling some delicious local craft beers.
The Dovercourt Park is located in the centre of the neighbourhood. It is six acres large, and it has a children’s playground, wading pool, baseball diamond, sport fields, and a pair of tennis courts. It also forms a natural ice rink in the wintertime. Despite these great features, the highlight of the park is the local Boys and Girls Club. This establishment is known to help children apply themselves towards useful and safe recreation. It is open to kids ages 7-17.
If you’re willing to venture a little outside of the neighbourhood, there are many other parks that are worth checking out. One of them is Christie Pits Park, which is outfitted with a multi-sport field, outdoor pool, artificial ice rink, splash pad, community garden, baseball diamonds, and a children’s playground and labyrinth.
The region is mostly populated with semi-detached homes, which account for 53% of total home sales over the past year. In that time 21% of sales also went to detached homes, while townhomes accounted for 18%. The average home price was $1,027,633, and this translates into an average freehold home price of $1,009,422 and an average $1,327,250 condo price.
This area is becoming one of the most interesting neighbourhoods in Toronto. Its central location is becoming quite enticing for homebuyers and investors, and because of the two subway stations one its southern corners, the residents can travel across the entire city with ease. Bloor Street West serves as its main commercial district, and the surrounding restaurants and bars are where locals go to unwind after a long day at work.
