The area is also serviced by the YRT (York Region Transit) with bus stops located in close proximity hence making it easy for residents to travel around the city. In addition to providing local transit, the YRT also operates the Viva Rapid Bus transit system, which provides access to the Toronto Subway System through a route that connects the Newmarket Bus Terminal with the Finch Bus Terminal in North York.
Conveniently, the towns sit just 10 minutes away from Highway 400 making travel in and out of the city seamless. To the east of the town one also has access to Highway 404, providing a direct route to Markham and major routes such as the Don Valley Parkway and the 401.
Newmarket is a town that has an upward population trend and is expected to see significant growth in the coming years. With a population sitting at 84,224, some projections claim the town will reach 98,000 people by the year 2026.
