Weston Park Condo is designed by SvN and Giannone Petricone Associates, who will feature a stunning base that compliments the restored church structures. In fact, the two churches are set to be moved to the southwest corner of the site and will likely house the project's retail space. Detailed renderings are still in the works but judging by the proposal, we can expect a structure that will surely make for a signature landmark for the Weston neighbourhood.
The Weston Park Condo developer has proposed a large new public plaza and two residential towers connected by podiums that contain a new performance hall, a full-size gymnasium, and many flexible community spaces.
Additional amenities are as follows but are not limited to a BBQ area, concierge service, fitness room, lounge and party room. Details about the building's interiors are not yet known. However, the quantity and types of residential units are still being ironed out, but based on public documents, Castlepoint Numa expressed a desire to include a mix of unit types. When more information about this project is available, we will surely update this information here.
Plans for the project's outdoor space are limited, but from what we can tell, those who yearn for an area where one can chit chat with friends or enjoy a good book can look forward to a pedestrian mew leading towards the adjacent transit station.
Location & Neighbourhood
Weston Park Condos is situated in the Weston neighbourhood along the Humber River, which means that it is equal parts convenience and ample green space.
One of the most significant conveniences in the area is transit. Weston GO Station is located 3 minutes away from the condo by foot. From here, you can board the UP Express train to reach Union Station in 20 minutes. As well, locals can reach Pearson International Airport in 15 minutes.
Additional transportation options include nearby subway stations, Lawrence West and Runnymede. A pair of highways also pass through the area, providing convenience for local motorists. Highway 401 is located to the north, as is Highway 400. With this in mind, it should be no surprise that the project's location has a Walk Score of 80 out of 100 and a Transit Score of 78 out of 100.
What's more, commuting will only get better in the future. The Line 5 Eglinton LRT is scheduled to begin operating soon. Residents will be able to access this express line at Mount Dennis Station. This is located 9 minutes away by transit.
Local shopping can be done easily with Stock Yards Village just 15 minutes away. This pedestrian-friendly retail hub includes 50,000 square feet of shops and restaurants. The neighbourhood is becoming a popular destination for commercial tenants, ranging from trendy pubs and cafes to big-brand retailers like Winners and Michaels.
The Weston neighbourhood also features many services that keep locals close to home. They include a pharmacy, a medical clinic, and many restaurants. The area is also home to Humber River Hospital and a 1914-built Carnegie library.
With the city expecting growth for this area, they've been encouraging developments like this Weston Road site. The increased population brought to the area by these types of projects will support the growing number of local commercial and community services in the area. At the same time, the landscaping and streetscape improvements will enhance the public realm.
