Toronto's architecture gets a bad reputation for bland design, especially when it comes to condominiums. But, there are new projects on the horizon that are definitely an exception to the rule. From mid-sized condos to soaring skyscrapers, there are a few that are set to push the envelope architecturally with the aim to enrich Toronto's skyline in a meaningful way.

These condos will not only go up in already booming neighbourhoods, but they will rise in areas that are seeing new but immense growth too.

Here's our list of the Best Condo Designs Coming to Toronto in 2021!
Studio Gang One Delisle Condos Toronto

One Delisle
Yonge St / St. Clair Ave W

Designed by one of the world's leading architectural firms, Studio Gang, this future condominium has already been called an "architectural icon" by the Globe & Mail.

This powerhouse Chicago-based studio unveiled its first Canadian project back in 2018: One Delisle Condos developed by SLATE Asset Management - a skyscraper made up of stretched hexagonal layers resembling a honeycomb topped with terraces and planters. The project will anchor the corner of an entire block in the Yonge and St. Clair area. The building's design is unlike anything yet seen in Toronto, which is precisely what we expect from Studio Gang.

The condo development is a new luxury residence located at 1 Delisle Avenue on the northwest corner of Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue West in the Deer Park neighbourhood.

The developments' adjoining Delisle Street Parkette will be redesigned by architectural landscaping firm Janet Rosenberg + Studio. This development will create a new pedestrian passageway through the block and introduce a public art installation to the site.

The suites will come with custom, Studio Gang-designed kitchens with pill-shaped Studio Gang-designed kitchen island as per plan, dining extension or breakfast bar as per plan, soft-closing precision drawers and doors throughout, contemporary built-in under cabinet lighting, engineered stone or quartz kitchen countertop and backsplash as per design palette.

There will also be cooking appliances including electric cooktops, convection ovens, and built-in microwaves.

Studio Gang is founded by Jeanne Gang, whose firm has won multiple awards for its exceptional architectural designs. Gang herself has been recognized by Time Magazine as the world's most influential architect of 2019. The only person in her field to be named on the Time 100 list that year.

Pier 27 Phase 4 Condos

Pier 27 Phase 3 Condos
Freeland St / Queens Quay E

Closing out the trifecta of towers at the Pier 27 condo complex is Phase 3. Set to launch to the platinum access community this summer-- the final tower is predicted to follow the same fate as the first two phases that have already cemented the development as one of the strongest bits of residential architecture on the city's shoreline.

The complex designers, architects-Alliance, have pumped out greatness with their take on Toronto's glass box condo trend by turning the cliche on its side. So far, Pier 27 is eye-catching and smartly designed. Phase 3 should be nothing short of amazing.

Each suite will offer luxurious 10-foot ceilings and oversized panoramic balconies for residents to get a full view of the waterfront. Similarly to the already completed Pier 27 Towers, this condo will have unique architectural designs, including shifted balconies, curves and sharply angled lines.

Plus, this project sits just minutes from the Union Subway Station, GO Transit, VIA Rail, the Union Pearson Express and Billy Bishop Airport. Commuting around the city is made easy with all types of transportation options available at your doorstep, and the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner are just seconds away. Here, walking on pedestrian-friendly walkways, biking on bike lanes, bussing or taking brand new streetcar lines and even taking the ferry is a commuting option with the Toronto Islands Ferry just a few steps away.

This phase in the master-planned community is sure to encompass a highly desirable and coveted style of living with its indoor and outdoor amenities.

Images of the furniture and lobby finishes depict an elegant, gold and textured collection that will offer you a touch of opulence everytime you walk through the doors. The grand lobby will be accessed off Jarvis Street and will also include 24-hour concierge service, a lounge and some retail access.

LeftBank Condos by Broccolini

River St / Shuter St E

Toronto's newest entry to the luxury condo market will be 28-storeys tall with a six-storey podium. The tower portion of this project will be designed with significant glazing, accented by flowing black and white architectural elements, which will form the base of the balconies.

It's a contemporary design that is sure to catch the eye and set the standard for the many modern towers proposed for the developing area.

The townhomes here will feature both interior entrances and walk-out patios and entrances directly from street level. The unit mix will include studios, one-bedrooms, one-bedrooms plus den, two-bedrooms, two-bedrooms plus den and three-bedroom layout units.

Additionally, the tower's significant stepbacks will allow for many of the units to feature expansive balconies and terraces, offering lively views of the neighbourhood and the adjacent Don River.

The site has also been given a "regeneration" designation, meaning it's primed for more residential, retail, and commercial growth and will contribute to the neighbourhood's ongoing transformation. Communities like this that are actively undergoing revitalization make great spots to invest in.

Leftbank is an architectural masterpiece with the added bonus of being an investors paradise.
