Meet KING Toronto’s Newest Star Resident, the Rocket Man Himself

Meet KING Toronto's Newest Star Resident

Sir Elton John has purchased a luxury penthouse suite in one of Toronto’s most-anticipated condo projects, KING Toronto. His multi-million-dollar two-storey penthouse known as the “The Treehouse” will be a sight for sore eyes featuring custom brass detailing, arched wine cellars, private tea rooms and a two-floor custom library.

KING Toronto is one of the city’s hottest projects, boasting an eye-catching lego-like design spanning across the vibrant King Street West area. The city has never seen anything like these stacked light-box designs that rise and fall, creating four sculpted peaks and valleys – one of the most prominent features that caught the attention of the British superstar.

Sir Elton John performed in concert for the last time in Toronto on September 8 – the same day Queen Elizabeth passed. Before the show, he had a chance to sit down with the Globe and Mail, where he spoke about his new luxury penthouse to the Queen's passing and everything in between.

When asked why he purchased a condo in Toronto, Sir Elton John explained, “The main reason I’m coming off the road is to spend more time with my family. David’s brothers and their wives and children are here. We spend a lot of the summer in Canada.”

The legendary Rocketman will call downtown Toronto home with his Canadian-born partner David Furnish and their two children. His futuristic two-storey penthouse suite will feature 2,602 square feet of indoor space with an additional 597 square feet of outdoor space in the form of four terraces. The three-bedroom condo will also feature a live tree sprouting from the lower floor and stretching to the top of the second floor.

Designed by famed Danish Architect Bjarke Ingels, KING Toronto will boast two pools, a courtyard, sauna and steam room spaces, an indoor gym and four separate lobbies. This distinct real estate, located in the Fashion District, is inspired by Moshe Safdie’s Habitat 67 and Pierre Chareau’s Maison de Verre, described as “a living work of art, standing out globally as a feat of design.”

KING Toronto Condos will also boast 180,000 square feet of retail space and 60,000 square feet of workspace on the first three floors, while 514 dwelling units will occupy the upper floors.

Although this iconic condo development is expected to be completed by fall 2024, you can catch the legendary singer and his family walking the streets of Toronto well before then.
