This new project is a pre-construction condominium and heritage restoration in Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood. 187 King Street East Condos, it’s slated for a 2021 occupancy.
This project occupies the southeast corner of King Street East and George Street in a trendy stretch of downtown Toronto. It’s currently the site of a four-storey heritage building, the former Little York Hotel, which was built sometime in the late 1800’s. The building is being used for office space and will continue to, with the addition of retail space on the first floor as well. The heritage structure will remain largely unchanged, while the 17-storey condominium will be tucked behind it, rising as a contemporary and slender form.

The proposal for this project is somewhat unique; each floor will house only one suite, each suite being a two-bedroom-with-den style and ranging from 2,078 square-feet to 2,487 with a private balcony or terrace. This was a deliberate choice on the part of the developers, designed to address the need for larger, more spacious condominium units in the downtown core. These units will likely be highly in demand with families, professional couples, or the executive who wants a spacious home office.
The building will be contemporary in design, with a combination of glazing, concrete frames and brick facades, to both add a touch of modernity and compliment the site’s existing structure.
