Condo Project Summary

This new development project is a pre-construction condominium proposed by Angel Developments for the Church and Wellesley neighbourhood.
8 Gloucester Condos is scheduled for a 2021 occupancy.

The site of this proposed building sits at the northeast corner of Yonge and Gloucester Streets. The site includes a historic building known as the Masonic Hall Lofts, a charming heritage conversion featuring five stories and a classic redbrick façade. The lofts will be retained as part of the proposal, with the modern condominium component situated next to the structure. Two other buildings on the site – Victorian era storefronts that currently house a restaurant and a nightclub – are slated to be rehabilitated and incorporated into the new building’s façade, where they will continue to be used for commercial space.

Meanwhile, the modern tower will feature a brick and glass façade designed by celebrity architectural firm Hariri Pontarini Architects. Their design will represent a sensitive and character-rich compliment to the surrounding streetscape, which is within the Yonge Street Character Area. The proposal calls for a 34-storey tower with 232 residential units. The unit mix is expected to consist of 112 bachelor units, 60 one-bedroom, 31 two-bedroom and 29 three-bedroom units, in addition to the 20 existing condo units in the Masonic Lofts building.

The developers are also proposing 4,274 square feet of indoor amenities on the second and third levels, a 2,443-square-foot outdoor amenity terrace on the third level and the enhancement of a public park on the site. A four-level underground parking garage will be incorporated with 66 parking spaces for vehicles and 238 lockers for bicycles. A new public art feature will add character and intrigue to the street.
