Zinc Developments is known throughout the city for its ability to create stunning boutique condos in prestigious and sought after locations. It’s the brainchild of Kenneth Zuckerman, who’s been able to marry his skill as a business owner together with his passion for art and design to create aesthetically pleasing condo projects with that, also improve the value of their respective neighbourhoods. They’ve recently decided to take their philosophy that’s led to their success as real estate developers and apply it to a new endeavour, and we can’t wait to see how it improves the city around us.
For his entire career, Mr. Zuckerman’s been renowned for his business sense as well as his dedication for art and design. This has largely translated into the entire raison d’etre for Zinc Developments, as they strive to create architecturally stunning condominium buildings that also prove to be wise investments. He’s done this by mostly focusing on boutique condo projects in Toronto's central neighbourhoods.
This tactic has been incredibly successful, and it has made them an award winning developer. One of their most notable feats is winning the Project of the Year - Low-Rise at the 2016 BILD Awards for the 35 Wabash development. They were also awarded for their design prowess with their Bishop Street development. These boutique condos are in a repurposed commercial factory, and it received the Ontario Association of Architects Design Excellence Award in 2009 and the 9th Annual Best of Canada Design Award.
This development firm has been around since 1989, giving them over 25 years experience in the industry. In addition to being a successful business that’s dedicated to art and design, they’re committed to city building, which can be seen in each one of their projects. City building is about so much more than just buildings, it’s about communities, and they take this philosophy to heart.
Throughout his professional experience, My. Zuckerman has learned the importance and skill set of how to put a strong team together. They understand that the only way to create amazing condo projects that are more than the sum of their parts is to approach a team with that same philosophy. If a team, whose professional and personal expertise, can work together toward a unified goal, then they can accomplish amazing things. This is how communities work too — if the members of a community work together, they can make amazing things happen in their city.
Mr. Zuckerman hopes to take the philosophy that’s allowed him to become a successful real estate developer and apply it to the hospitality industry. He’s launching Carbon Hospitality, and it will focus on hotels, as well as the food and beverage industry. 51 Camden Street is their first foray into this new domain, and it will feature 130 carefully designed rooms in addition to a stylish bar-restaurant. It will rise out of the heart of the Fashion District, putting all of the urban attractions our city has to offer at visitors’ fingertips.
This boutique mid-rise condo building is located in one of the most affluent and sought after neighbourhoods in the GTA. Situated in the opulent Yorkville neighbourhood, these suites are only a few steps away from Mink Mile and other local amenities in the surrounding neighbourhood — not to mention world class public transit thanks to Bloor-Yonge Station. This project has a total of 18 homes, no two of which are the same. This showcases this developer’s dedication to thoughtfully planning each condo suite with livability and style in mind. 36 Hazelton Avenue was completed in 2015.
