Founder Morris Kansun picked the name of his company very deliberately. We wanted a name that evoked a sense of the mountains in the West - an unparalleled natural scenery that takes your breath away every time you see the sunrise on the horizon.

Kansun wanted to elicit this response because he is an avid outdoorsman, being extremely comfortable on the water boating or skiing in the mountains. He aims to give something different to his client base as he builds homes with a decidedly West Coast vibe. He accomplishes this by implementing natural wood and exposed stone accents in his home.

Like any real estate company, location is very important to them. They look for places where there’s a demand for what they offer, but also places that are appealing to their staff. This means places that promote an active lifestyle, and also a little flair - something extra, because of this they are active in building in Southern Ontario’s Cottage Country. This is ideal for this developer as it takes advantage of the natural beauty. They focus on building homes that blend into the natural landscape. Their ability to blend classic and modern architecture in the luxury homes that they build have led them to carve out a special niche in the market.

They have developed commercial projects in Florida, North Carolina, and Texas, as well as residential projects in the Houston area. They’re also working to develop a project in the Florida Keys.

Always looking to expand, they opened a more specialized wing of their company in 2008 when they opened their Custom Home Division. This was initially meant for friends, family, and acquaintances, but in 2010 they realized its potential and began developing residential projects in Toronto and Cottage Country’s most prestigious neighbourhoods.

This wing has now spread into high-end infill townhomes, detached/semi-detached residences, and extensive restorations of historic homes and luxury chalets.

Morris himself lives in a home built in the 20’s that he renovated - showing his dedication to his company. This developer has proven that they can create modern luxury homes in ideal settings. Their approach to building West Coast style homes in Southern Ontario has allowed them to become an innovative and forward thinking leader in their industry. They are planning on expanding throughout the United States as evidenced by their project in the Florida Keys, so it’s reasonable to think that they will expand to other parts of Canada and the United States, even bringing the West Coast style to the actual West Coast. This mid-rise brings luxury condos to downtown Markham. It stands at 6 storeys and has 143 units. The ground floor features 13,000 square feet of retail space and a large old world style courtyard, so residents will enjoy community living and boutique shopping. The condos include granite countertops in the kitchen, and marble ones in the bathroom, along with hardwood, carpet, and tile flooring. Amenities include a media room, rooftop terrace, and exercise room. Its address is 68 Main Street in Markham, and the project was completed in 2014.

Royal Wynd of Ajax

This is a community of single family homes and townhomes with tandem garages. The location is central to parks, green space, and convenient amenities in the heart of Ajax. The homes include hardwood flooring, central air conditioning, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and oak staircases. They are located along Angus Drive and were completed in 2012.

Woodlands by Sierra
