Lanterra Developments

Lanterra Developments is a group that has been creating landmark condominium communities in the Greater Toronto Area since 1999. They believe their towers should be characterized by outstanding location, iconic architecture and design, and should provide amazing amenities for all of their residents.

Lanterra was formed by Mark Mandelbaum and Barry Fenton. Both Mark and Barry come from a law and real estate background. Mark graduated from the University of Toronto law school in 1981 and was called to the bar in 1983. He practiced corporate law for a downtown Toronto law firm until he joined his family’s real estate business becoming the Vice President of Land Development and Corporate Council, a position that he held for 25 years.

Barry graduated from law school at the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in 1983. He practiced law for two years before shifting gears and becoming the president of a major real estate firm in 1985. His firm specialized in acquisition and development of major residential and commercial properties throughout Canada and the United States.

The two first worked together to acquire the One Bedford property in 1999, and just like that, Lanterra was born. Although they both oversee all aspects of their business, Mark focuses on the architecture and design of projects, while Barry handles the acquisition and development of their properties. Their key values are innovation, teamwork, integrity, respect, creativity and responsibility. These values can be seen in each one of their developments across the GTA.

They don’t just want to create buildings, their goal is to push Toronto towards being a global city designed for the future. When they joined forces in 1999, they were able to anticipate the dramatic shift in Toronto’s housing needs and now through their master-planned communities, stunning design and sustainable technologies, they’re able to guide Toronto towards becoming a major urban hub on the global stage.

Mark and Barry have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the real estate industry and they’ve used these attributes to build their company's reputation. They understand that developing condominiums is a unique enterprise, and this has resulted in them becoming a major player in the world of GTA high-rise development. They know that unlike low-rise home communities, condos require preeminent strategic location and sustainable design to remain relevant and valuable. Moving on, they are sure to reimagine the city’s skyline, as well as its identity.

Previous Projects

Ice Condominiums

This shimmering tower reaches a full 55 storeys. It is nestled at the apex of two of Toronto’s most sought after neighbourhoods - the Entertainment District and the harbourfront. These condos are a proud home for many modern urbanites who enjoy restaurants, shopping and waterfront perks. Amenities include a sauna, steam room, pool and jacuzzi. It is located at 12 York Street and it was completed in 2014.

One Bedford

This was Lanterra's first acquisition.The condo enjoys one of the best locations in all of Toronto. It is located in the charming Annex neighbourhood, just steps from the Royal Ontario Museum and across the street from the St. George subway stop, giving residents enviable access to the rest of the city. Its amenities include an exercise room, pool and billiards room. It’s address is 1 Bedford Road and it was completed in 2011.

22 Condominiums

This address offers its residents a series of boutique condos and is located across from the Wellesley subway station. This central location provides premium access to Queen’s Park and is close the the University of Toronto and major hospitals. Its reaches 24 storeys, designed by Peter Clewes of Architects Alliance. It is located at 22 Wellesley Street and it was completed in 2007.

Burano Condominiums

This 50-storey giant is located in the Discovery District, just a block away from the College subway stop. These condos offer an ideal urban playground, surrounded by shops, restaurants and modern conveniences. Amenities include a party room, concierge, pool, steam room and jacuzzi. It s located at 832 Bay Sreet and construction was completed in 2012.
